Open Sans is a humanistic sans serif font designed by Steve Mattison, director of Ascender Corp, on behalf of Google. You can download the Open Sans font for free, without registration. The version of the font contains the full 897 character set, which includes the standard ISO Latin, Latin CE, Greek, and Cyrillic character sets. Open Sans was designed with vertical stress, open shapes and a neutral but friendly appearance. It has been optimized for print, web and mobile interfaces. It has excellent textual characteristics in its letterforms. Open sans is a new generation font. It was developed specifically for readability on various digital monitors and gadgets. This family, launched in 2010, immediately won the trust of designers and webmasters all over the world.
